About Independent Physicians Network
Established in 1984, Independent Physicians Network, Inc. (IPN) is a not-for-profit physician-managed and controlled medical delivery network. IPN’s 700+ member physicians, utilize all hospitals in southeastern Wisconsin as well as many independent outpatient centers which provide high quality, low cost diagnostic imaging, laboratory, surgical, hyperbaric medicine, therapy and many other medical services. Through its Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and contracted health plans, IPN member physicians provide medical services to over 130,000 commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare enrollees.
By exceeding National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) standards for credentialing member physicians and contracted providers, IPN assures its health plan partners and their enrollees a high quality provider network. IPN prides itself in not only its successful value based partnerships with Medicaid, Medicare and commercial payers but also its ability to arrange for the provision of high quality, cost-effective medical care for all IPN contracted enrollees.
Through their association with IPN, member physicians and their patients experience benefits unavailable through many other Independent Physician Associations. IPN member physicians can monitor their patients through all areas of their medical care and medical-decision making processes. Rather than managing just physician and outpatient services, IPN and its providers are responsible for managing all aspects of patient care through IPN’s value based payer partnerships. These arrangements allow IPN member physicians to focus on managing populations of patients versus just providing episodic sick care. This approach improves the overall quality of healthcare that their patients receive.
With an active Board of Directors and a staff of experienced medical and business professionals, IPN successfully and effectively provides the services required for a managed care business. IPN’s mission is to develop, protect, and enhance the capability of member physicians to maintain a quality practice. Over the past twenty years, IPN has successfully demonstrated this mission by arranging for and coordinating services that provide high-quality healthcare at an effective cost for its patients.
