Board of Directors

Active & Involved Board of Directors

With an active Board of Directors and a staff of vastly experienced medical and business professionals, IPN successfully and effectively provides for the needs of an independent physician navigating the managed care business. Along with promoting high-quality healthcare and physician education, IPN provides the independent member physician practices with an effective process to coordinate cost-effective, quality patient care services.

Established in 1984, Independent Physicians Network, Inc. was developed as a not-for-profit organization by a group of 200 physicians, mostly pediatricians, in response to Wisconsin’s changes to the Medicaid managed care program. Since then, the focus of IPN broadened to include commercial managed care, adult primary care providers, and a full complement of specialists was added.

Today, IPN is a clinically integrated network comprised of more than 600 member physicians who cover all specialties and provide services to commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare members for several managed care plans and directly to Medicare through its ACO. Through an association with IPN, member physicians and their patients will experience benefits unavailable through many other Independent Physician Associations. There is no fee to join or be accredited through IPN.

Benefits of Becoming an IPN Provider

As an organization dedicated to preserving the autonomy of independent practices, IPN’s member physician review process is ongoing to ensure high-quality consistent patient care. As IPN maintains higher credentialing standards than NCQA, member physicians can be confident in the credentialing services offered through IPN.

Due to the shifting nature of the health care field, it is often difficult to stay current with changing regulations and quality standards. IPN’s Board of Directors helps provide member physicians the tools and valuable educational resources they need to provide high-quality patient care and remain knowledgeable about changing health care issues.

IPN’s Board of Directors designs and monitors programs which assist its member physician’s ability to meet the various clinical and administrative requirements under today’s value-based agreements. Additionally, IPN’s clinics are not large enough on their own to participate in value-based agreements; however, when pooling their patients together IPN’s physicians and providers easily exceed the thresholds needed to enter into value-based agreements. IPN also acts as an intermediary when doctors experience difficulties with payers or various auditing organizations.
